Fun and Classic Car Games
1. I Spy
A timeless favorite where one person says, “I spy with my little eye something…” and gives a clue. Everyone else guesses what it is. This game is perfect for younger passengers and keeps everyone observant and engaged with their surroundings.
2. 20 Questions
Think of something — anything — and the rest of the group takes turns asking yes-or-no questions to figure it out. With only 20 questions allowed, the tension builds as everyone tries to guess correctly in time.
3. License Plate Game
Try to spot as many different state license plates as possible. Keep track and compete to see who can find the most by the end of the trip. Bonus points for rare or faraway states!
4. Road Trip Bingo
Prepare bingo cards with common road trip sights — cows, bridges, motorcycles, etc. Mark them off as you spot them and yell “Bingo!” when you complete a row.
5. Alphabet Game
Starting with A, find each letter of the alphabet in order on road signs, billboards, or license plates. The first one to Z wins — unless you’re stuck on the tricky Q!
6. Would You Rather
Take turns asking each other fun and challenging “Would You Rather” questions. From silly to thought-provoking, it’s a great way to pass time and learn more about each other.
7. Name That Tune
Play a few seconds of a song and have passengers try to guess it. Use your playlist or a music app and see who’s the ultimate road trip DJ.
8. Categories
Pick a category like “fruits” or “movies” and take turns naming something in that category. Keep going until someone can’t think of one or repeats a word.
9. Never Have I Ever
A classic conversation starter. Players take turns saying things they’ve never done, and others who have done it raise their hands or take a point.
10. The Movie Game
Name an actor, then someone else names a movie they were in, followed by another actor from that movie, and so on. It’s trivia-meets-memory for film buffs.
11. Counting Cows
Assign players a side of the car. Each person counts cows on their side, and whoever sees the most wins. Lose all your cows if you pass a cemetery!
12. Fortunately/Unfortunately
One player starts with a “Fortunately…” sentence. The next player follows with an “Unfortunately…” twist. It turns into a hilarious back-and-forth story.
13. Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament
A quick burst of energy. Play elimination-style and crown the ultimate champion. Add funny prizes or challenges for the losers.
14. Say the Same Thing
Two people count to three and say a random word. The next round, they each try to say a word that links those two words — repeat until you match!
15. Road Sign ABCs
Players spot words on road signs starting with each letter of the alphabet in order. You’ll be shocked how creative and competitive this one gets!
16. First to Spot It
Pick something specific — like a red truck, a water tower, or a windmill — and see who spots it first. Simple and perfect for all ages.
17. Spelling Bee
Give each other fun or tricky words to spell. It’s educational, entertaining, and always hilarious when someone fumbles an easy one.
18. Guess the Billboard
Someone reads part of a billboard out loud, but not the brand name. The rest guess what the ad is for. It’s surprisingly addictive.
19. The Counting Game
Pick something like yellow cars, stop signs, or convertibles. See who can count the most during the drive.
20. Create-a-Story
One person starts a story with one sentence, and each person adds a sentence in turn. Let your imaginations run wild!
21. What’s That Sound?
Play a random sound effect on your phone and have everyone guess what it is. Great for younger passengers or tech-savvy travelers.
22. Truth or Dare (Road Trip Edition)
Keep it safe and appropriate for the car, but it’s a fun twist to make time fly.
23. Two Truths and a Lie
Each person shares three facts about themselves — two real and one made up. The others guess which one is the lie.
24. Silent Game
A parent favorite! Everyone tries to be silent for as long as possible. Whoever talks first loses.
25. Who Am I?
Think of a famous person or character. The others ask yes-or-no questions to figure out who it is. Great for pop culture lovers.
